We understand that being required to take a drug or alcohol test can be a stressful experience. It’s important to know that in some jurisdictions, these tests may be mandatory during different stages of the legal process, such as after an arrest or prior to a court appearance. To make the process easier, you can sign up for a urine, hair, or blood alcohol test online. Testing can be scheduled near your home or work and results are entirely confidential. In addition, if you’re interested in enrolling in a random drug testing program, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 708-320-2335. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
What Type of Drug and Alcohol Tests are Ordered for DUI or DWI?
Panel Urine Drug Test – The basic 5-panel checks for the presence of the most abused drugs—marijuana, cocaine, basic opiates (morphine, codeine, and heroin), PCP and amphetamines. The detection window is 3-7 days for a urine test, except for marijuana, which can be detected in urine for up to 30 days. Although most courts use the basic panel, there are many other options, including panels that can detect oxycodone, ecstasy, and other frequently abused drugs, both prescription drugs and street drugs.
Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) Test – Widely used to detect the presence of ethyl glucuronide, a product of ethanol, which is the intoxicating ingredient in alcohol. These DUI urine screens have a detection window of 70 to 80 hours. The EtG screen is often used for DUI/DWI hearings.
PEth Alcohol Test – The PEth screen measures the amount of phosphatidyl ethanol in the blood, which indicates alcoholic beverage consumption. It has a look-back of three weeks.
Hair Follicle Testing – This type of drug testing has a much greater sensitivity and accuracy and can detect active drug or alcohol use up to 90 days from when a sample is collected. Alcohol testing is often required with a hair test because it can detect alcohol consumption over the past 90 days.
